This is the future of conversations. Allow us to offer you a platter filled with dripping & scrumptious pani-puri. The popular street snack of the Indian sub-continent goes corporate. It comprises the traditional round, hollow “puri“, fried crisp and filled with a watery mixture of tamarind, chilli and potato. The name panipuri literally means “water in fried bread”.

To add with the substance, the lounge offers a great range of street cuisines hygienically prepared in front of you.

The interior is epitomized allowing an aura of soothing and meditating music. Budding writers and poets are contributing their works to be placed on the walls.

PART II – 20 YEARS LATER

SCENE4: [A dark room, loud music in the back background]
A man is pouring some alcohol in a glass while sitting in front of a television set, switches channels with intense. Gulps down the drink through his throat and fills the glass again for the 7th time. Puts the glass down by his side and slowly picks up a hand gun from the floor, check cartridges and loads it. Tries to drag himself only to put himself only on a wheel chair and pushes himself forward.
[Foot steps]
Man: Who is there? [Fire opens, blood splashes on the television screen]

SCENE5: [Bright & sunny day on the highway]
The scorching heat arouses a shining road and gives a view of a young blond wearing blue jeans and a white tee carrying an empty bottle in one hand and a travel bag in another. Cars pass by; she waves her hands and asks for a ride, but keeps walking straight without having success. A wagon stops by and she gets in for a ride, watching a sign on the road reading hill alley 200km.

She lays her self on the back of the wagon and falls asleep. The sun sets and the darkness arrives as she opens her eyes with a cold breeze falling as she sits up and asks

Girl: [shouts towards the driver as the wagon speeds up] what place is this?
Driver: I hope you had a nice nap back there; we will be entering the town-side in another 30 minutes
Girl: Do you know where the Blue Villa is?
Driver: Erg… Lady I haven’t hear anyone say that name in ages
Girl: Will you take me there
Driver: It is a haunted place, I wouldn’t ask you to go…
Girl: Okay, there would be a grave yard by that place, please drop me near by it

Driver: I would be pleased to! In fact, we are almost. [Car speeds]
Girl: [Shouts] watch out!!

Scene: BLACK OUT

-Flash Back
SCENE 1: At the Blue Villa
Juan: I need a soul, a shadow, a reflection and all you can think of is scaring me away with this stupid cross sign, that’s for Christians I think or for who ever you believe in.
Kate: Oh la, so you are a vampire, you sound funny my honey bums- in fact if we were not getting late for the wedding tonight I would’ve made love to you right now, trust me! This shit is a real turn on. The vampire thing and all, I’ll suck you later my vampire [laughs]
Juan: Only time will tell, where did the keys go?
Kate Here I have them, come let’s go I am driving tonight babes. [Both walk out of the door]

SCENE2: At the wedding ceremony
Major: Greetings, it’s pleasant to see you both together tonight [kisses Kate]
Juan: Thanks Major, congratulations on your daughters wedding
Major: Come join me for a drink [waiter arrives and serves]
Kate: I will join you guys in a while. [Leaves]

Major: My man so how is business
Juan: I am an actor what would I know about business
Major: What a waste, you have no right to waste my daughters life! [Angry tone]
Juan: Why don’t you just drink your glass, get drunk and get laid to that whore you call secretary, go home
Major: You bastard…
Kate: Cant you guys just be civilians for once? I am leaving [Juan & Kate walk towards the car]

SCENE3: At the Blue Villa
Juan: [Rehearsing a monologue]
She smelt like an angel
The perfect angel
Her name was Kate
And I loved her
She trapped me
Got my best friends
She needed a real man
I killed him [Evil laughs]
A menace in me awakened
But I am not sure
It is all dark
It is all gold
It is all blood
Kate: [walks in] what the hell you think you are doing, don’t you have anything better to do; you are insane, totally out of your mind. [Screams] [Blood everywhere]

We all want to achieve or do something in our lives. Mine just happens to be my career as a journalist.

I was a rebellious teenager. In college, I skipped so many classes that I almost had to make sure everyone would be present the day attend a class. I was not participatory in high school activities. I had no school spirit. But I wanted to go to university.

Then I started taking writing classes. And literally came to life.

I started going to class and actually paying attention. My teacher, Mr. Enver Sajjad, was so passionate about writing, and the craft of writing, that it was infectious. I caught the passion. I initiated writing poetry as much as I could and parlayed that into a spot as the editor for a leading technology magazine in town.

I went to college with big dreams of being the chief editor of my own magazine someday. Then, I took a class in advertising. The professor was just as passionate about the creative process of advertising as my writing teacher had been. Maybe I am just gullible. But I drank his flavor of Kool-Aid and changed my plans.

Throughout my advertising career, I’ve often wondered what would have happened if I’d stuck with journalism. I long for the process of writing articles and seeing my byline printed above a long column of words that I carefully strung together. I’ve even taken some time off here and there and tried to get back into it. I’ve had small pieces published, but it is hard to make a living as a journalist. Especially when you’ve become accustomed to an advertising salary, but the rebellious teenager never quitted. And I decided to let go the employment.

It is used to be said that journalism is not a job, it’s a lifestyle. That still holds true. Despite the Murdoch-isation of the field, abroad and in Pakistan, it is not something that one does, but something one is.
